Making Ideas Happen
A look back at our most impactful projects of 2016
For Katie Lord, Inc., 2016 was a year of growth, learning, and some really fun projects. We covered a lot of ground, made a lot of new friends and partnered with ridiculously amazing businesses to help make their ideas happen. With 2017 on the horizon, we are on the edge of our seats to see what the New Year will bring. In the meantime, here’s a recap of the work we did in 2016.
Building a brand with Intonation Music: Every kid is a rockstar
Services: Web Design & Development
Intonation Music approached us with visions of a website that was responsive, functional and would help build their program in the Chicagoland area. Working collaboratively with their founder and marketing team, we came up with a user-friendly site that showcased their story, programs, partners and events, and met all of their design expectations. You can check out the final product here.
besafemeds: Where telemedicine and privacy collide
Services: Branding & Identity, Web Design, Lead Generation- Bootstrapped Startup Package
besafemeds combines equal parts healthcare and technology to provide discretionary treatment for STDs. When they came to us, they only had an idea. They needed an identity, a website, UX design and a pitch presentation to help them in their efforts to launch their product. Being involved with a product launch and helping make their ideas happen from the very beginning is exactly how we love to work, so we dove right in.
After purchasing our “bootstrapped startup package,” we started working towards an identity that could make a serious subject, well, a little less serious. The result was a website that tells their unique story, highlights their service offerings, and shows their value to potential customers. With our help, besafemeds is currently, and successfully, in full-on pitch mode.
The Chicago Podcast Festival: A dream project for podcast enthusiasts
Services: Web Design & Strategy
We love a good podcast (Serial, anyone?), so when the Chicago Podcast Festival asked us to help them promote their first ever event, we knew exactly how to deliver. Tasked with creating a site that promoted the event, each attending podcast show, and provided a way for attendees to purchase tickets we had our marching orders. The end product: A responsive site with a portfolio of podcasts, event maps and schedules, and streamlined access to ticket sales. We’re really proud of this one – Check it out.
Kiser Group: Boutique real estate firm, meet boutique design firm
Services: Web Design
Kiser Group came to us with the goal of freshening up their website with a “new and modern” look that was more representative of who they are as a boutique commercial real estate firm. Armed with just the copy and buzzwords including “fun, responsive and modern,” we started building. Three mockups later, we decided on a site that checked all the design boxes and exceeded expectations. With full functionality and a comprehensive property search function, we were able to focus on user experience, while building a brand that would resonate with their target audience.
Revolutionizing the events industry with EVENTup
Services: UX Design & Strategy
EVENTup’s vision was to create the first ever online marketplace for venue owners and event planners to browse, build and book venues. Our response to this idea was, when can we start? After several collaborative strategy sessions and a series of design mockups and tweaks, we came up with an online Dashboard and a user experience design that met all of EVENTup’s goals.
Xaptum: Building the network for the internet of things
Services: Branding & Identity
You might have seen our blog post about designing a great logo (link to logo blog). We got to implement all of those strategies when designing a new logo that was representative of Xaptum’s new “Edge Network Fabric” product. Using inspiration from the Fibonacci spiral, we put on our creative hats and got to work. Xaptum was prepared to move fast, and so were we. Ten days later, we had settled on a final product.
We also had the opportunity to design the website, UX and presentation to be used throughout the year for Xaptum. Most recently, they had their big debut to IoT world at their Genesis 2016 conference where you can see the landing page we had designed. We’re very happy to have Xaptum as one of our client partners and highly recommend you keep them on your list of startups to watch in 2017.
